Shingle-Back Skink

The Shingle-Back or Stumpy tail is a Skink found in inland southern Australia. It is unmistakable with its stumpy tail and rough scaly appearance. The animal here was filmed in Canberra, which is at the eastern edge of its range, animals in this area tend to be dark. They eat insects, snails, carrion flowers fruit and berries. The individual filmed here has a particular liking for the flowers of a native bindweed.
