Eastern Bettong (IR footage) (Bettongia gaimardi, Potoroidae: Potoroos, Betongs) Canberra, Australia, Dec 2020 (4K)
The Eastern Bettong survives in the wild in eastern Tasmania, it became extinct in SE Australia in the 1920's mainly due to predation by foxes and competition with Rabbits. The animal you see here is a member of a population re-introduced into Mulligan's Flat Nature reserve, which is fenced and maintained in a predator-free state. Filmed here in IR without visible light this animal is stiffing about, presumably for food and having the odd groom as it goes.
