Red-bellied Black Snake (Pseudchis porphyriacus, Elapidae : Cobras, Mambas, Kraits, Brown snakes etc.) Canberra, Australia
The unmistakable Red-bellied Black Snake is widespread in eastern Australia. It is usually found close to water, where it typically hunts frogs - as seen here. It is highly venomous, however if you leave it alone they are often not shy and will let you watch them going about its business at close quarters. It is abundant near waterways in the Canberra region, where these were filmed. Filmed at Tidbinbilla nature reserve. tidbinbilla.act.gov.au/
