Common Wallaroo (Macropus robustus robustus, Macropodidae: Kangaroos, Wallabies) NSW, Australia
The Common Wallaroo occurs across much of Australia, except the far south and parts of northern Qld. The rufous coloured inland form of this animal is known as a Euro see vimeo.com/143509389. The animals seen here are the grey/dark coloured 'nominate' form found in non-arid eastern Australia, where it is known as the Wallaroo. Males are larger and darker than females. Typically it is found in rocky country, especially where it abuts onto areas of grassland and pasture, which it visits to feed. Can be a wary animal. Also see vimeo.com/110858550
