Animals of Australia

There are few places that match Australia for its unique animals, especially ts mammals such as its monotremes and marsupials and its abundant reptile and frog fauna.

Red kangaroo (Macropus rufus) (Macropodidae: Wallabies, Kangaroos) (southwest NSW, Australia)

The largest Kangaroo and widespread in the arid inland of Australia. Females are a blue-grey colour, the males are the 'trademark' rusty red. A big male is a large animal and can stand as tall as a man and weigh more than 65 kg. Filmed on the Hay Plain in south west NSW, using my vehicle as a hide - no chance otherwise!
