Animals of Australia

Short-beaked Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) (Tachyglossidae: Echidnas) (Canberra, Australia)

The Short-beaked Echidna is one of two egg laying mammals found in Australia, the other being the Platypus vimeo.com/70263332. Widespread in Australia, the short-beaked Echidna is also found in New Guinea. Here we see several individuals going about their business, looking for food in the form of ants and termites in and around the Botanic Gardens and wooded hills around Canberra.
